I serve the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area as a birth doula. Whether you want to give birth at home, in a hospital, or birthing center, I can offer you professional support. As your doula I will support you and your desire to give birth in any way you want. I offer support for all mothers, natural birth, homebirth, augmented, or c-section. On a Personal Note: As a mother to six wonderful children, I know birth. I am also "Nana" to eight wonderful grandchildren. I personally have given birth in many different ways. Even though all six of my births were natural, unmedicated deliveries, they were very different. I delivered my first daughter in the hospital. It was a very difficult and traumatic experience. It was also the best day, because it was the day I became a mom! I decided to educate myself in order to avoid having a negative experience for my future births. I went on to have four lovely homebirths, with all of my loved ones surrounding me, all of the comforts of my home, two amazing midwives, and a sweet doula. When it came time for my last to be born, I had moved to a new state, and due to insurance, I was back in the hospital setting. While not traumatic, it was definitely not what I would have liked to have had in a birth experience. It felt cold and clinical. It was nothing like the warm, welcoming birthing environment to which I had become accustomed.
I do not believe that the differences I have described are due to the location of my births. I believe that you can have a wonderful birth experience anywhere and any way you choose to deliver. The difference? SUPPORT! With my home births, I had such a wealth of support throughout my pregnancies and labors, and even after the babies were born, and that made ALL the difference! I didn't have the same level of care in the hospital setting. Even the best nurses, doctors, and midwives are usually busy taking care of several patients. It is impossible for them to give you constant, unwavering support. As a doula, that's MY job!
It is my heart's desire to help women achieve their ideal birth experience, whether at home, in a birthing center, or hospital. You can enjoy the birth of your child!
